Job 27:2-11 |
 |
What experience first helped you realize that life is unfair? How did you feel? What did you do?
Read through the first two chapters of Job for background on Job's situation.
- What in Job's response strikes you as extraordinary? (1:20-22)
- How would you have responded in similar circumstances?
- How do people you know deal with the big problems of life?
- Are any of them facing big problems at the moment?
- How do they (or you) hear what God is saying in their (or your) suffering?
If no evil can happen to human beings apart from God allowing it, what problems does that create for you?
- Refer to Romans 8:28-29. How does verse 28 relate to the idea of injustice or suffering?
- What is God trying to accomplish in our lives?
Read Job 27:1-10.
- How does Job respond to his life situation and the advice of his friends?
- What is most important to Job?
- What does hanging onto his integrity have to do with cursing or not cursing God?
The one thing we can control is our reaction to our circumstances.
- How do you tend to frame what happens in your life?
- How do you want to respond?
Select one area of pain that confronts you and pray about it. Continue in Job and Romans 8 this week. Use your journal to record insights into how God is working in all areas of your life. Encourage someone in a similar situation by sharing your discoveries with them this week.
