What’s At Stake?
Isaiah 54:2 |
 |
If you asked the average person on the street, "Who is Jesus,"
what do you think they would say?
Luke 9 will give deeper insight into what's at stake in following Jesus.
Luke 9:18-36 - discovering Jesus.
- Who did Peter say Jesus was?
- What's the connection between verses 9:28-36 and Peter's declaration in
verses 18-20?
- Who do you say Jesus is? What does that concretely mean in your life as
demonstrated through your thoughts, words, and actions?
Luke 9:37 and 10:1-3 - the mission of Jesus.
- What did Peter want to do? (verse 33)
- What did Jesus have him do? (verses 9:37 and 10:1-3) How does this
demonstrate the mission of Jesus for all followers?
- How is a relationship with Jesus different than what the disciples
originally thought? Than you originally thought?
Luke 9:23-25 and 57-62 - the cost of following Jesus.
- What does it mean to you to deny yourself? Take up your cross? Follow
Jesus? Lose your life?
- How do you feel about saying, "Lord, whatever it takes from me, thy
kingdom come, thy will be done"?
- If you could go back and reconsider your commitment to Jesus (knowing what
you do now) would you make the same commitment? How would your commitment
change?
So many times we say yes to following Jesus but never really go. At the
end of these four weeks, what commitments are you finalizing?
- Expanding my capacity for God and others
- Changing my standard of measurement in giving
How will your life look differently because of these commitments?
