Live Clean
James 4:7-8 |
 |
As a child, were you afraid of the dark? What
"monsters" were in it that scared you?
Review James 4:7-8, then read through 1 John 1:5-2:2 at least twice.
- What verse in 1 John seems to you to state the overall
meaning of this section? Why?
- When John says "God is light," what do you think
he means? What implications are there for you?
- Look at the series of "if" statements in verses
6-10. What is the condition and result in each instance?

- How do cleansing and walking in the light interrelate?
- In your life (or group), are there areas that are hidden
from the light? How will you deal with those areas that are incompatible
with a God whose nature is light? (V. 9)
Both groups and individuals are called upon to "walk in
the light." This involves the willingness to be open and transparent. See
verses 1:7 and 1:9.
- What are some barriers that make transparency difficult?
- What would it take for you (and your group) to be
transparent with each other?
- What will you do this week to respond to God’s call to
wash your hands, purify your hearts (James 4:8), and walk in the light?
