![]() Hebrews 13:5-6 Be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.” |
The Cross of Contentment I have found the cross of Christ to be the pathway to contentment. For example, one morning this week as I rolled over, literally, as I am now many months pregnant, my flesh was resisting the idea of carrying the weight of our precious womb wonder. I actually heard my muddy, morning mind say, “Jesus, you never had to carry this. You do not know.” Before those pathetic words could finish, my minds eye saw my precious Savior bent over carrying the cross with which He would hang to pay for the weight of all my sins. I was suddenly content to roll my belly right out of bed and carry a load much lighter than He carried for me. Prayer Loving Father God, you who did not spare your own Son, but gave Him up for us all, when I am tempted to grumble or complain about the cross you call me to carry today help me to find contentment in fixing my eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of my faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, considering him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that I do not grow weary and lose heart. I humbly pray this, for your glory, in the loving and powerful name of Jesus. Amen. Additional Scripture (Be encouraged by God’s word) Becky Curtis
